Diego Rojas is Salvadorian-American student and athlete here at South El Monte High School. He is a student with a 3.2 GPA in AVID and ECA, as well as also being a skilled athlete in soccer and in volleyball, and he serves his community by helping out with his local church. If you know Diego, a lot of you would know he is a calm, mature and authentic person who is always trying his hardest to support not only himself, but also those closest to him in whatever way he can. An important experience that he said he found “I shouldn’t be scared to learn new things, it’s my first time living”. His journey here at South has been pretty calm but also pretty scary because he doesn’t know what to expect and what’s to come in his future, but he’s enjoyed and is grateful for the ones who’ve been there along the way.
Diego has said these past few years haven’t been easy, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t overcome certain obstacles, and he’s managed to grow his communication skills and managed to get more comfortable and talk to the people around him a lot more and is willing to take on greater risks. Some of his accomplishments that he’s proud of are his major improvements in soccer for being so new to the game and being able to hold himself up academically and managing to not let anyone ruin his kind hearted soul. His goals are to graduate from a 4 year university and become financially stable and one of his dreams is to own a home and be able to travel across the world. The steps he’s going to take to ensure his archives his goals and dreams is to keep on working hard in pursuit of his future.
