I met Madelyn at a young age; we went to the same elementary school, Potrero Elementary School. Maddy and I were never that close, but I like to think of her as a good friend. She is a kind-hearted, funny, and Genuine person. I didn’t really know much about her until this interview.
While I interviewed her, we couldn’t stop laughing at the little things. That just sums up the type of person she is. Maddy has a lot of memories from childhood, but one that stands out is from elementary school; She drew a picture in our teacher, Ms. Kisles’ class, and she put it up because it was the best drawing. Maddy is a different person than she was in her childhood. In the past, she used to hang out with a lot of girls and be more outgoing, but now she’s more reserved and keeps to herself and a couple of people. The biggest Influence in Maddy’s life has been her father, who taught her from a young age values and how to be herself.
The Hardest part of high school for her was letting her grades slip and her mental health failing; this caused her to be transferred to Ledesma. She didn’t let anything affect her; she fought through and passed all her classes so she could come back to South El Monte. Her Freshman year self was immature; she grew and is now a better person. Her biggest impact, academically wise is her 3rd-grade

teacher, Ms. Rayo, who made a lasting impression on her by helping her when she was struggling with bullying.
Her friendships are different; she surrounds herself with good people. Some advice she would give herself is to take it day by day. She was motivated by the struggles of addiction, trying to overcome it. A lesson she learned was not to be too trusting. She plans on attending Rio Hondo and then transferring to UCLA to become a Sonography Nurse.
