The Journey of Juan Pablo. This article highlights the life of Juan Pablo, a current senior at South El Monte. Juan states “when I was younger I was more care-free”. He shares how now he puts more thoughts into what he does and says. His family is something very valuable to him. They provide constant support and motivation that keeps him going. He also states how his older sister is the biggest influence in his life. “She taught me to not stay stuck in the past but to think about how I can make my future better.” An important lesson that sticks by him is to “not let others dictate who you are.” He explains how some memories he holds close to his heart are smple gatherings like carne asadas with his family. Pablo states “ my most difficult years in high school were my sophomore and junior year because I struggled paying attention and getting my work done.” He now recognizes that he should have put more effort into doing better at school. He then shares about an accomplishment he is most proud of, where he came to the realization that school was important and he picked up his grades. His growth from his freshman year to now is something he also spoke on. He explained that in the beginning he was very shy and reserved but over time he has learned to open up and become more outgoing. Some of Juan’s most important goals are to support his family and give back to them like they provided for him. “ I plan to attend college and get a job so I can continue learning.” His education is something he wants to continue and strives to become financially stable. Lastly, Juan hopes people remember him for his kindness towards others.
