Someone so smart may be so successful. But if we are talking about a normal person like Ashley Yu, she was honored to be chosen as an ambassador and represent our school. Not everyone has to be so smart to be able to get a big role like her but all you have to do is be dedicated and have patience like her. I know most of you may know her or be her friends, but do you know how she got this role or how hard she tried to get to where she is now?
But first, let’s talk about what an ambassador is and what a person needs to do to get this role. An ambassador is responsible for strengthening relations between their country and other countries. Most might think that an ambassador should be an adult to do this role but our eagle Ashley Yu has a certain GPA and must maintain that GPA. This makes sure that they are well-rounded students who can represent our school. Since now you know what an ambassador is and what their role is let’s get into how our Eagle was able to get honored as an ambassador.
Ashley Yu started as a lion at Potrero and is now a big mighty eagle. She had many challenges to overcome like having to fill out many applications and show all her extracurriculars how she did at our school and three essays in total about talking about a major issue in society and how she would change that, and work to change that. It wasn’t easy to just get this role there was a point when she was rejected to be chosen as an ambassador. She got the news that she got a call that something happened, so she was the backup and now is going to Korea. There were still many challenges she still had to go through an interview where there were semi-finals and finals, which was super nerve-racking for her. Let’s see who has supported her.
Ashley Yu stated, “Ms. Lechulk and Mrs.Burgess were the ones who helped me by giving me recommendation letters.” Our school staff likes to help our students just like our two staff helped Ashley Yu get to this opportunity. It doesn’t always have to be staff it can also be friends and family. “I would say that my mom and my family and of course Mrs. Burgess. My best friend Iztel also supported me when I told her the news about me getting the role.” Let’s get into how people feel about Ashley Yu getting to represent our school.
Most people who have gone to Poterto might not know the news of Ashley Yu going to Korea. An interviewee Luis Beltran said, “I knew Ashley since pre-school and I never thought that someone who I used to talk to would be able to make it this far. I’m truly proud of her because she is a sweet person who is willing to help others.” Hugo Chavez states, “I think Ashley will do amazing she deserves this role, she’s always been a smart person.” But of course, she is not going alone to Korea and I know she might have different plans when being in Korea.
Ashley Yu stated, “This is my first time going to Korea, so I’m excited and I’m not going alone, I will be going with my team to Korea which is me and eight from Los Angeles, eight from Montana, and eight from New York and if there is a chance to look around then I will be willing to take that chance and try out the food.” We hope that Ashley Yu and her team have an amazing time in Korea and make so many memories.
Congratulations Ashley Yu we are all so proud of you! You came so far to get through this role as an ambassador for our school and we hope that being able to represent our school makes you proud of where you come from.
