On April 8, 2022 South El Monte faced off with Mountain View in a heated league home game. The game started at around 3:15 P.M. South El Monte coming in with a loss was ready to leave it all on the field and leave victorious. Mountain View coming in with a strong team which gave the varsity boys a tough game.

The game started with Mountain View coming out to bat and scoring three runs in the first inning. In the same inning Andrew Medina went out to bat and ended up scoring with a double. The second and third inning Mountain View conquered and ended scoring three more runs. 

South El Monte came out strong in the 5th inning with freshman Christian Casteneda scoring with a home run. Mountain View ended up conquering that same inning scoring four more runs which put them in the lead 10-2. The 6th inning junior Ruban Reyes came out and scored off an RBI. Mountain View scored 2 more runs with one inning left.

After a hard fought game by the Eagles, Mountain View ended up scoring one more run in the 7th inning ending the game 13-3 resulting in the Eagles  losing another league game. This would leave the Eagles with a league record of 3-6.

The Eagle’s Nest asked Ryan Leon, one of the players, how they felt about the performance of the team and this is what they said, “I felt we could’ve done better. We had a lot of mistakes and we need to practice more and just try to beat the next up coming teams. We tried our best, but in the end we just didn’t do too well.”
