On January 20, 2025, Donald John Trump was sworn in as the 47th president for his second term at the U.S. Capitol. He started his first term in 2017 and is now back in 2025. He has plans to make changes in the US following the presidency of Democrat Joe Biden. Some of the minor changes he will make to the economy, education, and taxes. The bigger changes he is making are immigration, reproductive rights, and LQBTQ+ rights. He’s planning to make a few of these changes now and in the future. Some of these plans might change many people’s lives and their perspective of him.
Immigration is one of the bigger changes he is planning on making. Donald Trump stated that he is putting a mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. He plans on putting them in migrant camps and plans on deploying the military to assist him in this order. He’s also planning on ending “catching and release” to put back people trying to enter the US without authorization. Trump is also aiming to end the DACA (Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals) program, as well as “birthright” citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents.
I interviewed Alfredo Mendoza an adult about what he thinks about this specific executive order and he said” Why make an order like this it just too cruel for the Mexican Americans who have built their lives here and to start a new life.” It is also cruel to take parents away from their children because who would take care of them now, where would they go? Another order is how Donald Trump took the United States out of the Paris Agreement. In Donald Trump’s announcement he made and stated that “as of today, the United States will cease all implementation of the Paris Agreement.” This includes the NDC and contributions to the Green Climate Fund. This order seems to be upsetting some people.
Another order is going to the changes in education. He wanted to change Bidens order on student loan forgiveness, increased regulation, and an emphasis on enforcement by the Office of Federal Student Aid. For the education department, he wanted the new administration may seek other tools to minimize the agency’s influence on matters it believes are best left to the states. Trump administration will offer to strongly support school choice and charter school expansion in the states.
Many people have openly expressed themselves how they feel about Donald Trump. Some people don’t like the fact that a convicted felon was chosen to be president again. The other half on another hand thinks he can make this country better again. Many half might also have different feelings about this inaugurating speech. A handful of people just simply don’t care who runs for president anymore or who gets elected.
Donald Trump has many more orders to come in the future. Some may be good or bad. However, in this case, we shouldn’t stop fighting for what is also right. We have the right to do anything we want.
