“The winners of this year’s 2024 World Series are the Dodgers!” These are the words many people in LA County and afar wish to hear. The LA Dodgers have won the hearts of many with their amazing skill and talents throughout the years. For many the Dodgers are more than a sports team. They’re a family of hope and accomplishments. This is why people fear these seven games that started today, Friday, October 25, 2024.
The LA Dodgers were originally The Brooklyn Dodgers, but they moved to California on October 8, 1958. They moved for financial success and other reasons. This history, of the Dodgers originating from New York is why it immensely impacts the fact that they are going against the current New York Yankees. For many this game is more than just a simple game, they feel like the team must win for Fernando Valenzuela. He was an important player as he helped make the team great, and he sadly passed away on October 22, 2024.
Although many West Coast residents wish to see their team bring home the win, some will never fully forgive the Dodgers for what they did to Chavez Ravine. During 1959-1962 Mexican American communities were destroyed by greed, political hypocrisy, and good intentions gone awry. They destroyed these communities to make the stadium.
Others feel like the Dodgers must win this World Series as they last won in 2020 during the “COVID year.” The big controversy around this win was that some believed it did not count, for others it did. Many say that the season was not a “real season” as the playoffs weren’t a regular full-length game. Many of these restrictions were caused by the ongoing pandemic at the time.
At the time (October 30th, 2024) the Dodgers are (3-1) to Yankees. The game has been having excellent skills of luck. Freddy Freeman made history in game 1 of the World Series making a walk-off Grand Slam!
On October 31st, 2024 the Dodgers won their 8th world series! On the World Series 5th game they were on a close tie with the Yankees. But they came on top with a final score of 7-6. The World Series score was 4-1, the Dodgers winning in the 5th game. Many celebrated the win with chants and fireworks! The night before Halloween was a night of excitement and exhilaration time!
