Spider-Man No Way Home Review

– Major spoilers ahead, reader discretion is advised-
On December 17th, 2021, the third installation of the Spider-Man movies was released. The third film’s plot revolves around Spider-Man losing his ability to differentiate between his ordinary existence as Peter Parker and the high stakes of being a superhero. When Peter Parker seeks Doctor Strange’s help, the stakes are raised even higher, causing him to rethink his role as Spider-Man.
(Spoilers ahead) The movie picks up just where Spider-Man: Far from Home left off, with Mysterio revealing Spiderman’s identity as Peter Parker to the whole world- as well as framing him for murder. Julie Iniguez, a senior at South who watched the film many times remarked, “If my identity was revealed and I was Spiderman I would probably figure out a solution to make the people understand that I’m not a threat.” Parker’s charges are dropped thanks to lawyer Matt Murdock, but the group is still dealing with unfavorable publicity. Parker goes to the New York Sanctum to seek Stephen Strange for help after his, MJ’s, and Ned’s MIT applications are rejected. Strange recommends a spell that would make everyone forget Parker is Spider-Man, but it becomes tainted when Parker requests changes to allow his loved ones to keep their memories. When the spell fails, Parker is forced to go, but this is when villains from other realities who knew Spiderman begin to appear.
(Spoilers) One of the biggest topics spoken of among fans before the movie’s release, despite Sony, Marvel, and the cast’s best efforts to keep their involvement hidden, was Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s involvement in the film; they were the subject of widespread speculation and multiple leaks. Ultimately fanatics had been accurate in which a scene from the film, Ned and MJ communicated with different variations of Peter Parker’s character from the multiverse. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire made a return as their Spiderman counterparts; each scene with the 3 superheroes together made fans remember each generation of Spiderman movies and reminisce. There were many nods to previous trilogies and films for each hero as well as references to themes of friendship and healing. “I think some themes could be loss or coping with loss,” Jose Valderrama claimed. “The fact that you can’t control everything. And to be the bigger person.”
The latest edition of the Spiderman trilogy is already breaking records, generating $260 million in domestic revenues in its opening weekend alone. Julie remarked, “I was expecting this movie to be really good, and it became one of my favorite movies of all time, I would give this movie 5 stars out of 5 because it was so enjoyable to watch, that I watched it 3 times.” According to thenumbers.com, Spiderman No Way Home garnered just over $970 billion worldwide. Currently, the film has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With reviews like these, we can hopefully expect more from the web-slinging hero.
